The Green Torpedo
There was a big, green torpedo right there in their basement. The couple spoke to an army veteran who explained that it was around for either a mortar or a lightweight anti-tank weapon from the Korean and Vietnam War. Eventually, the couple got in touch with the authorities and they came to take it away. When the DeForests asked how a torpedo could possibly end up in someone’s basement, the answer they got was that sometimes, people kept torpedoes as souvenirs.
Discovery
While it’s probably fascinating to find some old artifacts in the basement of the house you just bought, at times, people find completely different things. Diane and Pat Farla lived in an old Victorian house in England. They always wondered about the strange grate in their basement. And so, one night, they decided to look into it after they had some wine.
