Seriously, it’s common courtesy to not treat flight attendants like wait staff or babysitters. However, part of their job is to serve drinks and food, but it’s a lot more than that. As we mentioned, they are trained for emergencies, meaning they can use EpiPens, AEDs, defibrillators and perform CPR. By the way, the term stewardesses is outdated. In addition, they’ve been trained in self-defense. Thus, flight attendants can handle an emergency evacuation, attempted hijacking and unruly passenger. Most importantly, they need to defend the cockpit from anyone who shouldn’t be entering it while in flight.

Safety Matters

The most dangerous parts of flights are landing and take-off. It’s then that the pilot is completely in control of the plane. Thus, it’s when human error could play a role and lead to serious problems. According to statistics, it’s safer to fly than drive though. Actually the American government’s research discovered the chances of dying in a car accident are 1 in 98, but the odds of dying in a fatal air catastrophe is 1 in 7,178 in a lifetime!
