Taking Revenge
The public didn’t take to kindness when it came to dealing with those women.
The locals beat them in the streets, shaved their heads and many were banished from their communities and cities.

Misreporting
Originally the common belief was that the women of the Lebensborn program were held by the SS soldiers against their will.
This mainly owed to the misreporting in the media and the mass confusion that followed after the war. When the issue was investigated, journalists revealed that the women had the choice to leave at any time. The public’s anger towards these women just grew more and more, and some of these women had their children taken away from them.
