Chris Pine – Anne Gwynne’s Grandson
Did you know that the heartthrob Chris Pine from Star Trek was preceded by two generations of Hollywood denizens? Pine’s parents were both actors, whereas his maternal grandmother was pin-up girl Anne Gwynne, who was popular during World War II and acted in numerous horror films in the 1940s. Gwynne had the same hooded eyes and full lips as her grandson. She died after she had a stroke at 84 years old in 2003.
Zoe Kazan – Elia Kazan’s Granddaughter
Star of the 2017 film The Big Sick Zoe Kazan belongs to a well-established family in Hollywood. Her dad is screenwriter Nicholas Kazan whereas her granddad was Elia Kazan, a noted director. Her grandpa definitely passed on his eyes and nose to Zoe, but hopefully, she doesn’t develop a bad reputation like he did when he was in the industry. Controversially, Elia testified against a lot of his colleagues back in the 1950s in the anti-communist witchhunts conducted by Senator Joseph McCarthy. The ensuing criticism lasted until after he retired and picketers protested the Lifetime Achievement Award he was given at the Academy Awards in 1999.
