After overcoming all those obstacles, Malik Benjellou’s film, “Searching For Sugar Man” premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. The documentary was instantly a hit and won the Special Jury Prize and the Audience Award for the best international documentary. The film went on to premiere in the UK and the US in July of 2012.
